My Friday 5!

My Friday 5...On Saturday
Hope this week has been awesome!
Our little family got to spend the day at Sea World, I don't know who was more excited...
the 4 year old or the mom!
So, sorry this is up late!!
Here are my favorites for the week
Remember my mom's rules?!
If I was to start out with just one for my littles, it would be this rule.
Not only is it a sweet rule to live by, it looks dang cute on wood with  the red and yellow banner hanging with it.
I love this, thanks Alicia!
Thank you Kendra for the 9 B's printable!
I love the fonts and look of this!
This cute pillow caught my eye!
The colors and fabrics are adorable!
The teal mirror used to be a clock!
It looks fantastic with the white mirrors!
So, I'm throwing a baby shower for my sweet cousin in the fall and asked her this week what/if she wanted cupcakes...
Her reply was that she loves strawberry and coconut cupcakes!
I found the perfect combination over at Loving Every Second!
Don't they look delicious?!

Fruit Dip

This is the most delicious,
makes-fruit-a-dessert
dip.
I love fruit. I could eat watermelon all summer long, but when someone brought me a bowl of strawberries and dip for my birthday, I thought about converting to a summer of strawberries.
If you make this dip, have plenty of strawberries because you don't want to run out.
Eating it plain wouldn't be ideal, but I've seen it done more than once.
Here's what ya need
1 8 oz cream cheese {I go full out, no 1/3 less fat here}
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Piece of cake!
It takes longer to let the cream cheese soften then it does to whip it up!
Combine until it is smooth
And serve...oh my goodness
DELISH
We went through 2 lbs of strawberries that evening

Dilemma

Short story about how we got to this dilemma:
Small family of 4 goes to Kohl's to find a belt for dad.
Mom has 30% off, will earn Kohl's cash, and is feeling kind of rushed at the thought of missing the early specials.
Dad takes his sweet time browsing the hundreds of belts mumbling about how they are all reversible these days.
Mom thinks she will do him a HUGE favor and take the kids to her section.
Since she is used to having the little angels most of the time, she will bribe them with pretzels and fruit snacks.
Lunch time and nap time are coming just as checkout time is.
Since dad didn't get a chance to look at what mom had picked out and share his opinion,
both of these shirts ended up in the pile.
In between Cowboy picking out a Clifford book and Little Miss L not wanting to put Clifford the stuffed animal back, she decided it was better not to ask.
So,
which do you think is the better color?
Navy or peach?

My lucky mother will get the other one.
This is totally my style.
My friends say I can walk right into a store and not need to browse because I know what I will like.
Ruffles, flowers, dressy but casual.
Predictable, I think so!
I might need Nina to start telling me what to wear so I can expand my wardrobe a bit!

About the boy

Pruned fingers, olive skin {thanks to daddy}, and long naps.
Simplicity of summer.
This is the boy.
He stole my heart at the ripe age of 21.
There's something about a way little boys love their momma's.
No one has been more patient with me than he has.
He's taught me how to be a mom and has watched all my mistakes along the way.
He's been my best buddy.

Peachy Keen

Remember how I said we love to match?
Well, I meant loved to, like when we were 5 and didn't know anything different.
A few weeks ago, we got ready for church.
Separate rooms and pretty much didn't see each other all morning.
We walked out not thinking anything of the other.
At church, we got about 3 different comments about matching.
Isn't that "peachy keen"?!
{meaning- Super duper, just perfect, hunky dory, jim dandy, two thumbs up, etc.}

I wish I could pull off the smile-with-teeth and then follow it with a smile-without-teeth!

And us together...
Do we really look like a peach-strawberry-mango smoothie?

My Friday 5!

Woo hoo it's Friday!
It's been an awesome Friday already, Mr. J worked from home because of the supposed "Carmageddon" that is going to take place and would affect us horribly!
We've had fun swimming and having extra hands to help :)

I am loving this from Apothecary Home! I need would really like to redo my bedroom furniture that is just a tad bit lighter than this and this is exactly how I hope mine turns out! Thanks Lindsay! It looks beautiful!
Made by hand?! Seriously, amazing! I found this table over at Honeysuckle and think it is absolutely fabulous!
Some of my favorite colors put together for a paper cone wreath, perfection! I found this over at Corner House and you can also have chance to win one!!
Such a cute frame made with chicken wire! I'm loving the colors and did you know that you can find chicken wire at the dollar store! Thanks to Jenn, over at Clean & Scentsible for the great idea!
Do you see how awesome this tufted ottoman is?! I bought a table awhile ago and I've been wondering if I could do something like this with it, but even if I can't I will be looking for another one because I love what Abbie did with this! {longest sentence ever, but I think I got my point across}Thanks for the wonderful step by step instructions!
Have a great weekend!

Mom's Rules

Our momma had rules.
Everyday rules that right before we got out of the car for school, she would ask, "What are the rules today?"
The question came like clockwork right after a quick family prayer, said by a squirmy sibling.
When Mrs. H & I were young there were 3 rules:
Be Happy
Love one Another
Choose the Right
We would rattle those off as fast as ABC.
Later came
Seize the Day
&
Show Gratitude
And that's where the list has stopped, for now.
Our brothers are 19 and 17
and they still rattle off those sweet rules to mom when they are getting dropped off somewhere.
I made these signs for my mom.
Her rules.
One of the many reasons she is inspirational.
There are 2 because when I ordered the vinyl, there was a period put instead of a comma in the MIDDLE of the phrase.
Me, being the perfectionist I am, couldn't handle the handpainted comma I had a friend try to insert.
So the minty green one is the first, more casual and contemporary and sits in a guest room.
The brown one fits my mom's taste perfectly.
If she could, I'm sure she would live in a cottage like the ones in Marty Bell paintings.

Don't they seem like easy rules?
I wish.
They sound simple enough, are catchy when you say them together, but truly take practice and patience.
I've been wanting to implement family rules.
Do I make up my own catchy phrase or do I live off these?
What are your family rules?

Our 4th in pictures

We had a very simple, laid back 4th of July.
It was fabulous!
We mainly watched from the sidelines...
as these 2 big boys tackled and played ball with mini me over there helping out.
We never knew which team he was on and that was the great part.
He adores both of his uncles!
When the action got too close he'd laugh from safety and beg for
this!
Even though he looks scared, he loved every second of it and begs for it all during pool time.
We played lots and lots of "motorboat" and "the kids in the pool"
Little L loves the water when she is being held.
Not sure what this hip stance is, maybe she's watched enough Zumba?!
And we tried our best to keep cool with frozen gogurts, watergun fights and boat rides.
We had a great 4th of July being with family!
I bummed I didn't get any pictures of the fireworks, but L didn't make it through more than 5 minutes of them.
