Preparing for Spring

Ok, so maybe I started preparing in January for Spring since I'm in Arizona
and we already hit 98 degrees today in March,
but I'm pretty sure I will love Lauren Conrad's new spring line through summer.
Aren't these colors great?!
I did get the 2 shirts on the left and some ankle jeans and am trying not to wear them out too quickly!
The dress is adorable, just not with my pasty white skin!
I got them at Kohl's with the 30% off + Kohl's cash + sale.
I seriously love me some Kohl's {especially when the sale rolls around}!
I was feeling like I needed to step it up for Mr. J.
He has to wear suits and ties every day to work.
I love it because he always looks sexy when he walks through the door!
Then there's me...
I don't like to do housework in my cute clothes.
I don't like to stretch out my clothes while playing with the kids.
I like to have the clothes laundry basket completely empty of dirty clothes so I do laundry in my "play clothes" since I won't need them washed right away.
{I guess I think the laundry basket will stay empty for the next few days :)}Yep, I pretty much love being comfy, especially in the heat!
Do I think I should be waiting for him at the door with my heels, dress, apron, and fresh spritz of perfume and lip gloss?
Not necessarily, I'm not as great as my grandma was, but there's always room for improvement!
So Lauren Conrad's stuff works perfect for me because it's flowy and is supposed to look like that hours after wearing it.
Too many ruffles? Maybe!
I'm just loving the way they dress up a pair of jeans!

Pottery Barn Inspired Wreath

Immediately when I found out we were having Miss L, I started looking at bedding and decor.
First stop was Pottery Barn and there was the most adorable flower wreath hanging above the crib.
At this time, I was more the type of person to buy and not make.
I started looking for the little letter that would tell me the info and price.
Well, it wasn't for sale!
I loved it and needed to have it, which meant I would have to make it...
This was my first craft EVER!
I'd gone to a few Super Saturdays, but didn't even own a glue gun.
After about 3 trips to Michael's I came home with a big wood wreath and a small one,
a ton of flowers,
glue gun and sticks,
a few flower balls,
some butterflies,
and some ribbon.
Let me just say,
Mr. J
was
IMPRESSED
{also at this time, I was not the type to cut corners or save $$...I've come a long way!}

While at a friends house one day, I took a look in her little boy's nursery.
She had these ribbons attached to a black iron wreath and they were red, orange, brown, and teal.
At the bottom of hers, she attached dragonflies.
ADORABLE!
So, its not just for a little girl mobile.
All you have to do is fold the ribbon like an "S" and stick the needle straight through.
They are super simple!

I love how it came out!
I wanted a garden theme for her room with all pinks and green.
I had Mr. J help hang it up.
I'm not sure who was more proud and shocked.
Him or me.

I love her crib.
It's not new and it wasn't new for Cowboy.
It's held up strong for me, Mrs. H, and our 2 younger brothers.
It's sweet and brings back wonderful memories of being the big sister.
I know it would probably look better if I fixed it up, but I can't help but love it.

Since this was my first project EVER and I'm ridiculously proud of it, I will be linking up here

He put a ring on it...

6 years ago today! Wow, me being 19 and him 23 we were babies!
We were visiting his parents for Easter weekend.
I thought a proposal might be coming.
I'd picked out the perfect ring,
been to visit a jeweler,
and he'd asked my daddy.
I wasn't expecting anything large
maybe a ring in an plastic egg while I'm on a hunt
or at a nice dinner date,
BUT NO...
I can't get a hold of him the morning of the 25th and finally when he answers his cell phone
he tells me he had to run to the bank.
I'm panicking because I'm at home alone with the

future mother in law
who I'm still trying to win over and am miserably failing.
{Remember clueless-2 girls sandwiched in between 7 boys-spoiled nurtured}
I try to take a super fast shower and get ready in a hurry.
You would have thought someone was timing me
and was standing near with a "perfect wife for our oldest son" checklist getting ready to say, "This girl will always keep you waiting."
I didn't know what we were doing for the day so I got dressed and his mom threw me a hoodie on my way out.
We walk out their back door and there is a helicopter waiting
My heart skipped a beat
and I'm guessing his mom was probably thinking that I was raised with a golden spoon in my mouth.
I didn't even want to turn around and see if her face was disapproving.
I get that anxious feeling just writing this.
We were dropped off on a mountain where I saw breakfast and roses.
There was a beautiful wooden small box that someone had made for him while he was on his mission for
our church and it was made for his future wife.
It's absolutely gorgeous and it only closes one way.
It is so special to me.
His speech was quick and sweet.
I'm pretty sure he knelt on a rock!
We had breakfast
{it was supposed to be an early dinner, but a storm was heading in}
and then went and head lunch with my mother in law and brother in law.

I love him more today than I did 6 years ago!
We've come a long way!
Happy proposal anniversary to us!

So Unprepared...

A few weeks ago in blogland someone said that they usually have 5 posts in queue.
I thought, "Wow, she is smart!"
Then there is me and I think I'm not that busy
UNTIL
our house got hit with the flu.
These 2 had plenty of time to set up a neighborhood with their respective houses, a Little People playhouse and a Batman Cave/Superhero house with residents ranging from My Little Ponies to Ironman.

We spent A LOT of time cuddled on the couch with the bowl, flat coke, saltine crackers, AND
Jake and the Never Land Pirates. This show is so cute!
I understand why cowboy begs to stay home from preschool because he misses the show.
We got to enjoy a sweet St Patrick's Day filled with luck!
We were lucky to have daddy home who took the day off to kick off March Madness.
(Yes, I'm one of those moms that loves the huge flowers)
I filled out a bracket and knew I had no chance against my husband and his group of friends.
I watched the first day for fun and have been hooked ever since!
It probably has nothing to do with the fact that I'm in
1st place
or that I'm super
COMPETITIVE
and refresh the standings after
every.single.game

To finish up a couple busy weeks...
Mr. J works between 50 and 70 hours a week in finance
I'm sure some of you can relate.
It's rare for him to get home before 7 and if he does, it's almost like a holiday.
We don't know what to do with ourselves and try to celebrate with the extra hours.
He needed to help in Tucson and they told him to bring his family!
Woo hoo!
2 nights, 3 days, meals, valet, pools
FREE!
While he worked, we played and waited for him to be able to join us.
So fun!
So I have a couple projects in the works and can't wait to show them!
Meanwhile, I'm doing a Lyndi Lou giveaway over at Polos, Pearls & Pacifiers
Stephanie is pretty much as awesome as they come.
She is an amazing mother and loves her role as mother and wife.
I love when I get to read blogs like this
Have a great weekend!

Once A Year...

Ok, it will actually be more than once a year but a few days ago was my first time at the Rodeo and afterward I felt like I could probably only handle it once a year. I wouldn't say I am a total health nut, but fried food and red meat is not a staple in my diet. I was soooo looking forward to going to the Rodeo this year! #1 because I got to see TIM McGRAW, #2 because I have heard from tons of people how crazy and amazing the food is, and #3 because it was a fun place for a gals night out. Well this is what I indulged in that night...

A beef sandwich- it was good, but very big and very greasy! But I wanted the rodeo experience so I dug in.

Then what I was really looking forward to- top left corner is a funnel cake, right beneath that would be 4 deep fried oreos, and off to the right would be a deep fried snickers bar. NO this was not all for me it definitely had to be split up between 6 of us. Even with 6 ladies it was so much!

My fried oreo. In the moment, it was great. It tasted rich and kinda like a donut. And I think I over-indulged a bit. Then we quickly headed off to the stadium to hear this guy.....

The show was amazing! He is a great entertainer and I will definitely be going again next year!
All in all it was a great night with the girls... until the next morning. I felt nauseous until about noon. My stomach felt as if I had eaten poison and it was now tearing up my insides ... which is why I say something like this can only happen once a year... UNLESS of course I end up going to see Brad Paisley with Mr. H in a couple of weeks. I may have to indulge again, but I will definitely be indulging less if I want to prevent myself from having a heart attack before I'm 40!

Life Gets No Better

Almost every.single.time I talk to my mom on the phone she lets me know that life gets no better.
If I'm having an exhausting day being a mother, a wife, and an obnoxious over-achiever, I usually think to myself, of course life gets no better, for her! She doesn't have to deal with crushed up cheerios in the carpet the second I wrap the cord around the vacuum. Nor does she have the neverending fight when it comes to dinner with my picky eaters. She most likely didn't roll her ankle on Lightning McQueen as she was trying to whip up some rice krispy treats! She's the grandma so she's done losing sleep, done giving 3 baths a day because of a messy eater, and she doesn't have to wipe bums over and over.
{Note: She is the best grandma ever and takes over when we visit every couple of months because she's just awesome like that and can't get enough of being grandma}
And then these big "Life Gets No Better" moments hit our home
Cowboy goes to preschool 4 days a week. It's a pretty hefty school schedule for a 4 year old that still has a full year left before he can go to kindergarten. {He lets me know that every morning, especially more recently because he is missing Jake and the Neverland Pirates~ his new FAVORITE show} I knew assessments were coming up, but spaced it until the morning of. That's not uncommon for me. I'm counting with him and singing the ABC's, months of the year, and days of the week on the way to school.
This is the paper he shows me when I pick him up

Then comes the emotional mom.
How did this happen so quick?
We practice all the time, but I haven't been ready to stop being the outliner yet.
When did my colicky, hard as heck baby become the most tender hearted little love?
He probably wasn't too hard, but being a 21 year old didn't present him with the most prepared mom.
Did I even help prepare him or is his teacher worth every penny?
His teacher is worth every penny, but I'd like to think I've helped and am almost too involved.
Is it perfect?
No, that's what I absolutely love about it. I would have felt like a real idiot if I kept doing the work that he could obviously do.
Seriously, a preschool assessment?
Can't wait until my first kindergarten parent-teacher conference.
Little Miss L had to be included in this post. She's getting more vocal and if we can just stop the screeching we will be good to go. We were getting ready for dinner with my cousin's family and as my cousin's little girl is saying the prayer, I look up to make sure L isn't climbing onto the entertainment center {in 30 seconds, she can whirl up quite the disaster} To my surprise, she is holding her chubby wrist looking down, attempting to fold her arms like the rest of us. It was the most precious moment watching that sweet little lady mimicking what the rest of us were doing. Where did our munchkin go? Do I want her mimicking my every move or should I be more aware of the example I'm setting for our children? She turns everything into a phone {brush, computer mouse, remote control} and she didn't get that from Mr. J.
Wiping the snot bubbles
having 3 minutes to take a quick shower
convincing my kids that brushing their teeth is SO fun so I can blow dry my hair
hanging out at the playplaces and then getting fully sanitized before nap time
watching Dino Dan when I'd so rather be watching a cupcake show
talking to a toddler all day and consistently answering why things are the way they are
are so worth it
because I get to be right on the scene firsthand to see my children's small and large successes
Life truly does get no better

A few of my favorite tutorials

You don't know how excited I was to find this today! I have had my eye on this for some time! To see it over at Simply Delicious was the icing on the cake! I can attempt to make this, or beg my mom to help! Her blog is just as awesome as this room is!

Simple St Patricks Day banner...So cute right?! Have you visited Simple As That before? If not, take a second now and feel free to come back. Her blog is amazing! She takes the most beautiful pictures and makes "simple crafts." To me, her blog is so rejuvenating. She captures the simple moments so well and is such a motivation to me to try with mine.

I want this wreath for my door! I love the antique looking branches and the fabric Megan used for the flowers are so perfect for this!

Does this bathroom make you feel like you are walking into a 5 star resort hotel room?! It does me! I love the colors, the big stripes and I LOVE the more functional towel rack! Thanks Sarah!

I love these Ballard knock off mirrors that Amy recreated...And the best part apart about them is she scored these mirrors from Goodwill! If you get 2 of the same thing from Goodwill you are lucky, but 3 is almost unheard of. $300 mirrors from Ballard, $10 look alike by Amy! So cool!

I truly love the way beadboard makes an area stand out! The Decor Chick turned her bar from mediocre to marvelous by adding some beadboard and I love it! There are so many before and after pictures. Go check out how she did it!

Can you believe this cake that Cheryl, over at Tidy Mom, decorated?! During this post she said she decided to "try her hand" at decorating a cake! It turned out perfect! When I try my hand at something, it usually ends up being something I have to continue practicing {trash}, but here we have perfection! I love this, sorry I can't get the picture to stay in the middle!
Pink Birthday Cake

It's Monday night which means I'm hopping over to Little Yaya's for the Follow Me Back Tuesday party! It's the perfect end to my night after watching The Bachelor and Castle...and I usually don't blog about something that could be confrontational, BUT I was so sad for Michelle on the show tonight! I know she was a little crazy on the show, but for her role as a mommy to be openly judged, I was hurting for her. No one can love your kids like you can and for that to be questioned is sad. I was surprised at how the girls would not drop it. They kept going back to her and that was nice of Brad to defend her!
Anyways I won't go on and on about it, but cheers to the party!

Dyson...Need I say more

Our giveaway ends tomorrow! Go enter!

When Mr. J & I got married we splurged on a $50 vacuum from Target. Ok, so we didn't splurge and we had a gift card that needed to be used and I chose the cheapest vacuum. I saw all of the Dyson vacuums and {sighed} hopefully one day! I was new to wivelyhood so I thought our home would magically stay clean. In our defense our first apartment was all wood, our second had super short carpet and our apartment in San Francisco was as big as my pinky finger so our vacuum worked fine for the time we needed it. Well, our new place is all carpet. Cheap carpet that you tip toe on and it leaves a mark, but I'm sure you get the impression that we move a lot so this hasn't been the place for us to buy. In addition to wanting a nice vacuum for cleaning purposes, our son had asthma in San Francisco. Recently my husband said and I quote, "Next time we move, we will definitely get a better vacuum." We didn't have to move, the great deal came to me! I'm into couponing and get emails about great deals every day from Pinching Your Pennies. One came saying DYSON in the header and I knew I was a goner. One of the many great things about Pinching Your Pennies is they lay out the whole scenario for you. The deal was at Kohl's and you needed a Kohl's card to get an extra 30% off...We don't really do store credit cards. My husband works in finance {period} so I got all the numbers together and presented my case. A $449 vacuum on a great sale PLUS another 30% off for having the card bringing it to $223 PLUS Kohl's cash. I presented it well, he said yes, and I got the LAST Dyson at the store. I have had many great shopping trips at Kohl's since. I saved that receipt and my total was $244.82 {saved $226} AND I received $40 Kohl's cash! Woo woo! My Dyson was well worth the wait! I love vacuuming with it and for the record, I haven't seen a deal on this vacuum since that has been better than this!
*I don't work for Kohl's and haven't recevied compensation for this post.
